Private hotel's underground car park

The parking fee is CHF 20.- per car per night; CHF 10.- per motorbike per night.

We are the only hotel in this location to offer underground parking with 36 spaces on the hotel premises. Staying at the International au Lac means not having to waste valuable time looking for somewhere to park. In case of high demand we have an agreement with two public indoor parkings in the immediate vicinity to park at the same conditions.

Maximum vehicle height: 2.20 m.

You can access your car at any time and the car park is guarded 24hrs.
The entry ramp was specially constructed so that even low rider sports cars can drive in and out with no problems.

Our guests are free to stop the car in front of the hotel!

Facts about our car park

Giulio Schmid (3rd generation of the owner family) came up with the concept for our underground car park in 1988. Construction began in 1990 and was completed in 1993. Naturally the aim of making this six-figure investment was to provide guests travelling by car with the best possible parking options, which are often not widely available in the centre of old towns. The entry ramp crosses the former reception, laundry and kitchen areas and, following the excavation of 22,000 m³ of rock, was built to the rear of the building underneath the garden. The significant additional costs incurred for excavating such a gigantic mass of earth resulted in this hotel car park costing four times more to build than the typical average.

In its time our underground car park has played host to a whole range of exceptional vehicles. Examples include an entire fleet of vintage cars for a rally, with more than a dozen Bentleys, including one model from 1908; a six-metre-long Rolls Royce Phantom; countless Ferraris, Lamborghinis and McLarens. Once it even housed almost 100 Harley Davidson bikes at the same time.
