Great-grandfather Anton Disler's hotel concept
The hotel must be comfortable, without excessive luxury, in light colours …”
The document shown on the opposite page is a valuable testimony to the hotel’s original design: a draft by the architect that great‑grandfather Anton Disler not only approved but transformed with vision and determination. Lines, notes and corrections reveal how he shaped every detail — from materials to colours, from common areas to guest rooms — ultimately forging the hotel according to his idea of comfort and elegant simplicity. The presence of running water in every room, still uncommon in the early twentieth century, highlights the attention given to guests’ well‑being. Likewise, the variety of salons on the Bel Etage and the decision to enhance the generous ceiling heights testify to the intention of creating spaces of genuine refinement.
