Conservation restoration of the facade
When colour returns to tell a story
For many years, Roberto Schmid and his parents, Giulio and Beatrice, had dreamed of restoring colour and freshness to the façade, which had been painted a uniform grey in the 1930s. At that time, capitals, reliefs and polychrome decorations were considered excessive and out of fashion.
For decades we prioritised interior improvements for guest comfort, until in 2019 we were finally able to recover the façade’s historical identity by highlighting cornices and capitals, reinstating the original yellow shade and adding new architectural lighting to enhance its details even at night.
To complete the restoration, we honoured the generations of hoteliers by placing on the façade the coats of arms of the Disler and Schmid families: the former with arrow and stars on gold and blue, the latter with a hammer on red.
