The Hotel International au Lac Today and Tomorrow

A Unique Combination of Services in an Unrivalled Location

Set directly on the shores of Lake Lugano and located in the heart of the city, the Hotel International au Lac welcomes both holidaymakers and transit travelers.

For over 120 years, it has been run by the Schmid family, who carefully preserve its historic identity and spirit of hospitality.

The interiors reflect a timeless elegance, complemented by modern amenities and attentive, personal service.

Appreciated by guests for its privileged location, the friendliness of the team and the quality of its offering, the hotel provides an authentic stay where history, hospitality and contemporary comfort come together naturally.

The Fifth Generation and the pages yet to be written

Today, the Hotel International au Lac is the result of more than a century of carefully preserved history, combined with a clear vision for the future.

Alongside the tradition of hospitality, modern services, attention to comfort and guests’ needs, and a management approach that places sustainability, quality and family continuity at its core all come together.

Every space tells a fragment of this story, while hospitality continues to evolve with sensitivity and professionalism. What truly gives value to all of this are the people who work here and the guests who choose the hotel, helping to keep alive an authentic place to which one gladly returns.

It is precisely on these pages yet to be written that Sergio and Aurelia, the fifth generation of the family, now appear. Engaged in their own paths of education, they grow alongside a story that accompanies them and that one day they may choose to continue, enriching it with their own perspective and personal sensitivity.
