From the Chamber Pot to Today's Comfort
The Evolution of Well-Being in the Room
In the early years, rooms did not feature private bathrooms: they were equipped with washbasins with running water, while for other needs a ceramic chamber pot was placed beneath the bed. Shared sanitary facilities were available on each floor, and a warm bath was charged separately, as evidenced by the tariff lists of the time.
From the 1950s onward, and gradually over the following decades, all rooms were fitted with complete sanitary facilities including a bathtub and WC. This significant process of modernization was completed in 1980, marking a decisive step in the level of comfort offered to guests.
In more recent stages, on the occasion of new cycles of room and bathroom renovations, the Schmid family chose to go a step further, offering their guests two bathrooms of particular character and quality: one enhanced by a suggestive starry sky, and the other adorned with a Japanese mosaic and completed by an exceptionally large shower head.
