The "golden brick"
Exactly one hundred years after the inauguration of the hotel, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Lugano, Mr. Erasmo Pelli, the fourth generation of the family, represented by Alessandra and Roberto Schmid, wished to pay tribute to their parents. They presented them with the symbolic golden brick, a tangible sign of the commitment devoted to strengthening the hotel’s foundations and continuing to build, day after day, not only in a symbolic sense, but in the real dimension of everyday life.
For Alessandra and Roberto, great-grandchildren of the founder, that golden brick held an even deeper meaning: it ideally represented the first stone of the hotel’s second century of history, projecting the family’s and the company’s story into a new future.
The golden brick and the commemorative plaque are now displayed in the hotel museum, located on the first floor.
